How I Got Here

My name is Marissa Honjiyo (she/her). I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#152112). I am a fifth-generation Japanese American, born and raised in Orange County. My own story has taught me how deeply our histories live within us and I’ve come to believe that our stories shape everything — those we inherit and those we create. They influence how we understand ourselves, how we connect with others, and how we show up in the world.

In therapy, I focus on exploring your story—both the parts you’ve inherited and the ones you’ve written yourself. These stories shape the patterns in your relationships, your sense of self, and the ways you navigate life’s challenges. Together, we look at how your experiences have influenced your behaviors, thoughts, and emotions, and consider what changes might help you live more intentionally and authentically.

I approach therapy as a collaborative process. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard and understood and discover new ways to relate to yourself and others. Whether you’re navigating conflict, feeling stuck in old patterns, or simply wanting to understand yourself and your relationships more deeply, therapy is a place to slow down, make sense of your experiences, and take steps toward meaningful change.
